Letter from the Editor

It would be a lie if we claimed we weren’t proud of Colorado Hockey Insider’s five year anniversary. Typically we like to focus on the hockey community and try not to toot our own horn. But we are proud.

Since Dean Nordstrom’s vision for a youth hockey publication started a half decade ago, there has been one objective in mind: To produce the best statewide youth hockey publication possible.
I took over as editor in January of 2008 partially because I saw the passion behind the publication. Ever since, it’s consumed me to put out a better publication than the month before.

This year we are encouraging more interaction with the hockey community. We want feedback and we want you to help feed this publication. It can only get better with the help of our readers. When you see a story that sparks your interest, or one that doesn’t for that matter, tell us. We want to publish what you want to read.

We’re proud of the work that has been done but we know there’s always room for progress. Some of the best sports publications in the world are molded from reader input. Each month can be thought of as another test run towards perfection. We try to cover youth teams from the mountains to the foothills, from Telluride to Fort Collins, but without your help it can’t be done.

We now look forward to our readers submitting Stars and Coach of the Month because you know better than anyone who deserves it. We want you to write to Dr. Hockey and ask him questions that you may not feel compelled to ask otherwise. This is your forum and magazine; we’re just here to make sure it hits the racks each month.
We want to keep Dean’s vision alive so that kids will see pictures of themselves, their friends and teams and get them up on the fridge.

Because that’s what really makes us proud.
