Making a Difference in the Community

It's hard to get teenagers to do anything on a Saturday night, let alone some community service. But that's exactly what Shawn Rafferty's Bantam AA Flyers did Oct. 18.

Rafferty requires the boys to do some service each year and the lucky recipient this year was the Denver Rescue Mission. "It was different this year because the kids (and even myself) were a little nervous.

But after a little while, everything went well and the Mission staff praised us for being the best youth group to have ever volunteered. Their maturity was incredible."

Congratulations to the team and staff for taking the time to better the community and showing that hockey teams do more than just compete.

T hey were able to serve 180-plus meals in two hours and really made a difference in quite a few lives. Added Rafferty, "A lot of the boys want to go back."
