CHL Announces 2008-09 All-CHL Team

Tier I (AAA) 2009 State Champions

Midget Major AAA - Pikes Peak Miners
The Miners were loaded with talent this season and they showed it by cruising through the playoffs. Pikes Peak defeated the Rampage and Colorado Thunderbirds AAA U-18 twice to capture the state title. After a 4-1 win over the T-Birds in the first round, the two teams were matched a little tighter in the final. Pikes Peak managed to sneak by with a 2-1 victory.
Midget Minor AAA - Colorado Thunderbirds 92s

Two Thunderbird teams graced the Midget Minor AAA division: the 92s and 93s. And a year made all the difference as the 92s breezed through the tourney, not allowing a single goal until their finals matchup with the Pikes Peak Miners. The final in that game was 6-1 but the 92s outscored their opponents 16-1 in three games.
Bantam AAA - Colorado Thunderbirds
With only two teams competing at Big Bear Ice in this division things got a bit one-sided. After a 10-1 first-round victory by the Thunderbirds over the Pikes Peak Bantam AAA team, the second game settled down a bit. The T-birds closed it out with a 6-3 win.

Tier II (AA) 2009 State Champions

Midget Major AA – Arvada
The final game in this bracket pitted Arvada versus Arapahoe as both teams had beaten Hyland Hills to reach the final. Arvada snuck into the championship game with a 4-3 overtime over HHHA and then followed it with a dramatic 5-4 victory over Arapahoe on President’s Day at the Promenade Ice Centre. The team went undefeated in its three playoff games.
Midget Minor AA – Arapahoe
Arapahoe beat both Boulder teams (92s and 93s) en route to the win. The Boulder 92s were the No. 1 seed in the bracket.
Bantam AA- Colorado Hockey Club beat Littleton in the championship game. Ed Saxer’s team went 40-12-2 overall record (11-3-2 tournament record) while winning the Rampage in the Rockies and Littleton Thanksgiving tourneys.
PeeWee AA – Littleton
At World Arena the Hawks fulfilled their personal goal: to win a state championship. They beat Arapahoe, Colorado Spings and the Colorado hockey Club for the opportunity to head to Idaho for regionals.
