3 Colorado Girls Select Teams Advance to Nationals

Colorado Select’s U12s participated this year in the WEGHL (Western Elite Girls Hockey League) headed by the Colorado Select and Arizona Select. After a disappointing loss in the first game against Arizona, the 12AAA team clawed their way back to a victory on Saturday with a score of 3-1 with Hope (1 goal) and Brooke (1 goal + an empty netter) responsible for the goals.  Today's game was a real nail biter with Arizona making their mark on the scoreboard first but a short time later we answered with 2 goals of our own, again by Hope & Brooke!  The teams entered the 3rd period with a tie score that remained that way sending this game into OT.  Shortly into overtime an amazing goal scored by Caley sealed the deal for the team sending them to West Chester, PA in early April to play with the best of the best in Nationals!!! U12s are coached by Rich Smith.

The Colorado Select U16AAA team clinched the Rocky Mountain District Tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona to advance to the USA Hockey Girls National Championships to be held in Philadelphia, PA.  The Select finished the RMD Tournament undefeated beating the Texas Blaze, Arizona's VOSHA and the Texas Attack while scoring 32 goals and giving only 2. This tournament win brings their overall record this year to 34 - 2 - 1. The U16s are coached by Pierre Turgeon.
The real work begins April 2nd!  The girls in Blue hope to show well against the best girls teams in the Nation and begin the tournament with a great rematch against Assabet Valley, Massachusetts ...always a national powerhouse.

The U19s received a bye to Nationals this year as there were not any other U19AAA teams in the district that qualified or declared for districts. The U19's are coached by Marnie Hill, formerly Associate Head Coach of Providence College.

Congratulations girls, and good luck in Philly!
